Tommy has been a Drummer since the age of 4 when his Mum and Dad gave him his first tiny Drum set for Christmas it was a small 3 piece set that all was on one stand which he still has till today. In his own words....( I played that thing all day and all night and drove my Parents mad....hahaha that was the start of it all for me !!!!) .
Over the next few years and he got his first large drum set from a garage sale that he and his Dad went to. It was a Gold Sparkled kit with a Bass Drum, Snare Drum and Tom Drum with Hi Hat Cymbals and Stand. ( This was the best thing since well forever for me man i just loved it even tho it was a bit on the old side i didn't care it was mine and i loved it was an awesome thing to have at age 6 )
Since Those Days Tommy from his late teens up until late 20"s has played in Tasmanian, Australian and U.S groups as a Freelance Drummer. (The bottom dropped out of the industry and for my families sake i had to try other things....which i hated but you got to do what you have to do....but i still wanted to do something with it so i kept my drumming up as much as i could while in this period. )
Then in his mid 30's he decided to use his Talent and Knowledge as a Professional Drummer to start his own Business in his Home town of Devonport as a Drum Teacher. (I just wanted to use all that knowledge and experience that i have to teach anyone Kids and Adults the art of Drumming. So i placed a few adverts and flyers about and not to much longer after that i started to get calls for lessons to do in my small shed i had set up for it. First 1 then 2 then 3 and well the rest is History so to speak, and now i do all my Teaching from my Bigger Custom Studio at home. I get so much joy from doing this and to see all my Students have fun while learning is the best feeling in the world, and to boot they cant wait to get back to have their lessons...... Yes there is Homework and tests from Beginner level to Advanced and i give out Progress Reports on a regular basis. This is Teaching no shortcuts and it is said as it is and both Parents and Students like it that way. Means i doing it right i think).
Tommy Also does Yearly Drum Clinics at Local schools which Have been a huge Success and is the Biggest Highlight for Drum Styles during the year as Tommy his Students and Non Students have a blast over 2 days Playing and learning and Live Performances.
I decided to do my first clinic in 2011 and that went off pretty well. Then in 2012 I did another one and this went off without a hitch everyone who attended had a great time.
2013 clinic / clinics were a turning point as in that year I had to do 2 .....the demand for it was nuts.
2014 and 2015 clinics were just Insane with the introduction of Live performances on the sunday for Parents and visitors of the Participants and Myself to backing tracks with light shows and all.
2016 Clinic will be the Best one yet. I so look forward to this time of year it is such a rush.
I just love seeing everyone have a great time.
